K-Palette 24H Real Lasting Eyepencil

20Apr12

When K-Palette came out with the all-new 24H Real Lasting Eyepencil, I was thrilled. My favorite liquid eyeliner in pencil form.

It comes with a twist-open cap, which is not a common feature with pencil liners. I think it's a good feature since I've encountered pencil liners "uncapping" themselves in the makeup pouch, hence dirtying it. There are times when I forgot about this feature, and end up having a "tug-of-war" moment with the eye pencil... =.=

I like that it doesn't require sharpening but dislike the fact that such products deplete faster than those that do.

It glides on smoothly, without much tugging. The intensity of black, as you can see from the image above, is as black as charcoal.

Personally, I like to use it for tightlining.

To tightline, gently lift up your eyelid and line under the upper lashline. Do it as close to the lashes as possible to fill in the lash gaps. It gives the optical illusion of naturally bigger eyes and fuller lashes.

It doesn't really fade or flake. However, it does smudge a little (got onto my lower waterline), as shown from the image above. Other than that, it stays on pretty intact at the end of the day.

Exclusively available at selected Watsons stores and beautycarousel.com.

Thanks for reading! TGIF :D

K-Palette Zero Kuma Cover Control Concealer

19Apr12

Today's post will be on K-Palette Zero Kuma Cover Control Concealer, which comes in 3 shades (01 Natural Beige02 Yellow Beige03 Orange Beige). I'll be talking about 01 Natural Beige, the moisturizing variant which conceals and hydrates all at once.

PS: I'll be reviewing the eyepencil next!

SOS! kuma (bear) to the rescue!

Bear-y cute right?! :D~

It comes in a plastic, see-through tube, a reminiscent of Lancôme Juicy Tube. The slanted edge tip allows you to dab directly on and blend it out in a patting motion. However, I still prefer to dab and blend with my middle/ring finger, as the warmth of my finger will aid in blending.

It has no scent at all. I like its creamy consistency in particular, not too thick, which doesn't cake under my eyes. It glides easily on the skin and conceals adequately well.

left eye - with concealer, right eye - bare skin

You can see how it brightens up the eye area naturally (my left eye pictured on the right). Looks so much awake yea?

I also like that it can act as an overall concealer, on problem areas which need extra coverage. And, I just need to apply a light layer of powder after which.

Well, I have to say that K-Palette Zero Kuma Cover Control Concealer is definitely worth the hype. Once I'm done with this, I'll be getting 02 Yellow Beige (meant for brightening).

Retails at $19.90. Exclusively available at all Sasa stores and beautycarousel.com.

My Sasatinnie Celebratory Look

11Apr12

from March 29 to April 30, Sasa is celebrating her 34th Anniversary. And, I've joined the "Sasatinnie Celebratory Look" contest organized for bloggers. You can vote for me HERE (:

To create my "Sasatinnie Celebratory Look", Sasa sent me the following products:-

  • Sasatinnie Limited Edition Fall in Love Makeup Palette 01 Vivid Purple Collection
  • Sasatinnie Sugary Heart Lipgloss Palette 02 Pinky Red Collection
  • Sasatinnie Sparky Liquid Eyeliner 03 Regal Blue

I totally adore the cute packaging, which some might find kiddy or whatever. Well... I'm just a kid at heart :P My heart was literally fluttering when I received 'em. heh.

Sasatinnie Limited Edition Fall in Love Makeup Palette

01 Vivid Purple Collection

Retails for $29.90.

The blush is decently pigmented and has a satin finish. For the look, I apply the mix of rosy pink and pink, then the highlighter color. Alternatively, you can swirl the trio for a lovely subdued candy pink.

I find the eyeshadows to be rather well-pigmented, which hold up well even without the use of primer. The lighter shimmery shades feel kinda gritty, while the darker shades apply very smoothly.

I like the bubblegum pink lip color, which does show up on the lips -- glossy with a hint of color.

Sasatinnie Sugary Heart Lipgloss Palette

02 Pinky Red Collection

Retails for $12.90.

This has gotta to be the prettiest among all And, the color combination is so sugary sweet!

The lip color I chose for my look!

I don't really fancy lip palettes but this is clearly an exception :P

Lipglosses in pan form, with a heart in the middle. You can use the colors alone, or mix 'em up. Like most lipglosses, they are not that pigmented, which add a bit of color and sheen to the lips.

Sasatinnie Sparky Liquid Eyeliner

03 Regal Blue

Retails for $11.90.

A beautiful shade of blue, which contains sparkly silver glitters.

The close-up finished eye makeup look.

Using Sasatinnie Limited Edition Fall in Love Makeup Palette 01 Vivid Purple Collection, I apply the shimmery pale gold shade as the base, then the pink-lavender shade all over the lids. Next, I define the outer-V using the plum and dark purple shades. I apply the same shades to the outer 1/3 of lower lashline.

Using K-Palette 24H Real Lasting Eyepencil, I tightline my upper lashline. Then I finish off the look with Sasatinnie Sparky Liquid Eyeliner 03 Regal Blue.

Remember to coat the lashes with waterproof mascara OR apply fake lashes.

My "Sasatinnie Celebratory Look"

Vote for me HERE if you like my look? TIA! (:

A Neutral LOTD [feat. Integrate Rainbow Grade Eyes BR701]

24Mar12

The 1st quarter of 2012 is ending in a week's time... Woah~ Time really flies!

So far, I've been good, trying to haul necessarily instead of excessively. I recently did some packing and found myself with "new" makeup and skincare to play with use. Needless to say, there is also a considerable amount of old ones that need to be discarded.

One of the "new" makeup I managed to find in my abandoned stash is Integrate Rainbow Grade Eyes BR701. It consists of a glitter shade (the slanted striped one), 3 powder shades in the shape of a heart (2/3 to be precise. heh.) and a cream-colored base.

[pictured left to right]:

white rainbow glitter powder, cream-colored base, shimmery champagne nude, shimmery dark taupe, shimmery brownish black.

All the shades are very pretty. I would say they're decently pigmented, considering typical Japanese brand eyeshadows are quite sheer. I love the cream-colored base, as it imparts a pretty glowy sheen sans shimmers.

The powder eyeshadows feel silky smooth, not cheap powdery kind. The shimmers they contain are very finely milled. They're really easy to work with and blend really beautifully.

As for the sparkly rainbow glitter shade, it feels smooth but not densely packed though. A good eye primer like Urban Decay or TFSI will help prevent fall-outs.

I like the color combination though it's clearly not that unique. I'm glad that they hold up well without the use of an eye primer -- no creasing or fading at the end of day.

For this look, I applied the base color then the powder eyeshadows using the easy "gradient" effect. To keep the look simple, I didn't use the rainbow glitter powder.

Face

  • BRTC Glossy BB Cream
  • Ettusais BB Mineral Powder

Eyes

*Note: Products highlighted are provided by beauty company for review purpose.

That's my end-of-the-day face... UPCLOSE! >.<

That's all. Thanks for looking!

Lip Smacker Flavored Lip Balms aka Soda-Pop Caps

17Mar12

This photo of old school toys, doesn't it evoke a sense of nostalgia?

This nostalgic package was sent by the creative peeps at Starasia. They certainly went the extra mile to compile all these old school delights...

Reminiscing the good old days...

Amidst the toys are... the NEW Soda-Pop Caps from Lip Smacker!

Cute packaging right?

The soda-flavored lip balms are found beneath these (plastic) screw-caps. Available in Coca ColaSpriteFanta - retails at $6.90 (3.4g) each.

Instead of swirling my finger to pick up the content, I scrape some using the back of my clean nails and smear over my lips.

You can see the hint of color in 'em, true to each soda flavor.

Coca Cola

Sprite

Fanta

In conclusion...

These soda-flavored lip balms are interesting additions to my lip balm collection. They don't only look aesthetically pleasing to the eyes, they also do their part well -- in terms of moisturizing my lips. Oh, and they smell and taste the same albeit much milder.

I did mentioned that my favorite soda beverage is Coca Cola. As for the lip balm, my top pick is the Sprite flavor. Love the tinge of white sheen it leaves on my lips

Grab these collectable Soda-Pop Caps exclusively at Watsons stores NOW!

How I Do My Eyebrows?

15Mar12

I'm no expert in doing my eyebrows. Nonetheless, I'm going to share how I do my eyebrows (as requested by amyrleex HERE).

The Brow Tools

  • Chanel Mascara Brush -- I use it to comb my eyebrows
  • K-Palette Real Lasting Eyebrow Liner 24H (Natural Brown)
  • Mio Piccolo Eyebrow Mascara (Light Brown)

I like to make use of tinted eyebrow mascara to lighten my eyebrows. The one I'm featuring in this post is from Mio Piccolo, and I guess most of you are not familiar with this brand. Fyi, I got it from Nanairo aka the most wonderful $2 shop ever. It carries a rather wide selection of makeup products, as compared to dear Daiso.

The eyebrow mascara is decently pigmented, in my opinion. The brush is bigger than that of Kate and Shu Uemura (the other two I own). The brush is able to comb the eyebrow hairs quite evenly albeit a bit messy (also due to the slightly wetter formula). Quite smudge-proof and doesn't fade at the end of day. It takes a few mins to dry. Thereafter, my eyebrows look neater with the hairs held in place.

I've been using this eyebrow mascara for few weeks and I would say I'm pleased with it so far. Not the best but for $2, I couldn't ask for more...

The color I picked up is Light Brown, which has a golden metallic sheen to it. There's another shade, a Brown or Dark Brown. Thought I'll just do a swatch of K-Palette Real Lasting Eyebrow Liner 24H (Natural Brown) which I love so much.

I've reviewed the newer version, the 2-way one HERE.

I try to tweeze my eyebrows daily, or at least 2-3 times a week. My original eyebrows are barely there if not for the faint eyebrow embroidery. I try not to pluck excessively, lest having skinny-looking eyebrows which make me look older than I should. Well, I'm not young to begin with... so yups.

Okay, let's begin...

The eyebrow should begin according to the inner corner of the eyes. Place a ruler over your pupil starting from tip of nose, going over the eyebrow as well. This will mark the peak of arch. Next, place the ruler at the outer corner of nose to the outer corner of eyes. This is where the eyebrow should end.

(1) Comb the eyebrow with a spoolie brush.

(2) Using the liquid eyeliner (K-Palette), draw fine strokes to fill in the gaps in the eyebrow. Then brush the eyebrow (with the spoolie brush), so as to soften the color for a natural look.

(3) Work the eyebrow mascara brush against the direction of hair growth and lightly brush over for an even distribution. Brush the eyebrow (with the spoolie brush), to keep the hairs in place.

That's about it. And, I will do all of the above when I've the time to spare. Usually, I'll just go with (2) and that would suffice.

If I'm in a rush, I'll go for Shu Uemura Hard Formula Eyebrow Pencil (another favorite of mine). Quick and easy.

Last but not least... a photo to give you a better idea of how the final eyebrow look -- in terms of color, which failed to show up accurately in the other photo.

So this is how I do my eyebrows... That's all. Hope this sharing helps (:

Review: CandyDoll Lipstick, Lipgloss and Cheek Color

14Mar12

I talked about CandyDoll Base Makeup Series in the earlier post HERE. In this post, I'll be featuring their lip products (lipgloss and lipstick) as well as the cheek color.

  • Lipgloss (Macaroon Pink)
  • Lipstick (Ramune Pink)
  • Cheek Color (Peach Pink)

Retails at $25.90 each.

CandyDoll Cheek Color (Peach Pink)

A soft blushes of color that is natural and give you a perfect clarity. Long lasting throughout the day!

The cheek color swatch barely shows up on my hand, since my hand is darker than my face. This is a light wash of muted peachy pink, which is more suitable for those with fairer skin tones (NC/NW20 and below).

I apply this alone or over a more pigmented cheek color. Both ways work well for me, just that I need to be heavy-handed to get the color to show up on my cheeks.

Lipstick (Ramune Pink)

Gives you dewy cute pink lips.

PS: You may use with Candy Doll Macaroon Pink Lip Gloss, it gives you a totally different experience!

Lipgloss (Macaroon Pink)

Ramune Pink is a nudish pink-beige color. The lipstick has a creamy texture and is well-pigmented (to cover my original lip color). Doesn't dry my lips.

Macaroon Pink is a milky hot pink shade. The lipgloss is pigmented enough to be worn on its own. I like to layer over Ramune Pink though. The lipgloss does feel a lil' sticky, not as much as MAC's. Pretty moisturizing, in my opinion.

Hmm... As my lips are rather dry at the moment, the application is not really smooth sailing. Both lip products are unforgiving on my dry lips, accentuating the flaky bits and lip cracks. It's best to apply on well-hydrated lips.

Lipgloss (Macaroon Pink) and Candy Doll Cheek Color (Peach Pink)...

My favorite look -- Lipgloss (Macaroon Pink) layered over Lipstick (Ramune Pink) plus Cheek Color (Peach Pink)

That's all. Thanks for looking!

CandyDoll Base Makeup Series: Review/Thoughts + A Quick LOTD

13Mar12

In this post, I'll be sharing my review/thoughts on CandyDoll Base Makeup PLUS a quick LOTD.

    A lil' introduction...

Masuwaka Tsubasa is the top Popteens model in Japan, her popularity encouraged many pops fan and teenagers to follow her fashion style and makeup trend. CandyDoll first developed with the Cheek and Lip series followed by Lipstick and Mineral Powder lines. Ms Tsubasa creates all different kind of makeup techniques, styles, looks and trends by using the most basic CandyDoll Color Cosmetics.

Makeup Base SPF30

The moisturizing and light texture is our big favorite! Not only it minimizes pores appearance & covers imperfection of skin texture, it provides a good SPF30 against the UV rays, looks dewy and keeps the makeup long lasting for the day.

Liquid Foundation 01 / 02

Use this after the Makeup Base SPF30, the buildable coverage and lightweight liquid foundation delivers a natural flawless complexion.

Concealer 01

This powdery pigmented moisturizing concealer is formulated to hide all kind of skin imperfections and brighten up your eye area.  It fix closely and softly to your skin, giving you a smooth finishing.

Powder Foundation

The incredibly fine texture powder gives a good coverage without feeling too heavy on the skin. Keep your face matte and natural at all times without touchup!

Crystal Face Powder

Formulated with skin friendly mineral powder. This magical powder that is ideal for touch up as well. It covers pores without clogging them. It keeps your makeup fresh throughout the day. Suitable for all skin type. It adds glow and radiance to your skin, giving you a natural and flawless finishing!

CandyDoll Makeup Base and Liquid Foundation 02

  • Liquid Foundation 02 - beige with yellow undertones
  • Makeup Base - opalescent light pink with ultra fine micro-shimmers

I mix the Makeup Base with Liquid Foundation (1:2), to neutralize the color (less yellowish). Alternatively, you can apply the Makeup Base then Liquid Foundation.

(1) & (2): Makeup Base + Liquid Foundation (right side of face), bare skin on the left

(3) & (4): Makeup Base + Liquid Foundation (right side of face), Makeup Base on the left

Fyi, I'm sharing my thoughts based on a one-time trial experience (I was provided with 2 sample sachets each).

I like the mix of Makeup Base and Liquid Foundation, as compared to using only the latter. The shade 02 (Liquid Foundation) makes my skin look slightly yellowish. Mixing in the Makeup Base, helps to rectify the "problem". The Makeup Base alone, helps to smooth and luminate the skin by imparting a slight rosy glow. As for the Liquid Foundation, it applies smoothly and has a light coverage (buildable to a light medium coverage).

Together, they help achieve a radiant and naturally dewy even complexion.

CandyDoll Crystal Face Powder 01 - Mineral Powder

    Masuwaka Tsubasa is super dolly-looking!

The packaging is uber sweet! kawaii-neh~

Comes with a soft velvet powder puff.

The mineral powder is silky and finely milled. It contains very fine micro-shimmers, which makes the skin look naturally luminous without looking like a disco-ball.

The micro-shimmers are so fine, they are barely noticeable. As you can see from the image above, the powder goes on translucent and glowy. Great for setting foundation/BB cream without adding more color to it.

The finished look, with CandyDoll Crystal Face Powder 01. It does help to minimize the look of my pores. The lasting power is average, as I find myself blotting and touching up after about 3-4 hours later.

Other products used:-

  • CandyDoll Cheek Color (Peach Pink)
  • CandyDoll Lipgloss (Macaroon Pink)

I'll be reviewing them in a separate post.

L'egere BB Creams [feat. White Multi & Water Drop Shiny Pearl]

09Mar12

I'm already a happy L'EGERE BB Cream user even before the travel-size tubes (10g each) were sent to me for review. As for the retail-size tubes shown in the photo, I bought 'em at John Little.

L'egere Waterdrop Shiny Pearl BB Cream

35g - $37.90

L'egere products are available at Sephora, Robinson, John Little, BHG ALT Beauty, Pink Beauty, etc.

***Product info above is extracted from the press release.***

It was rather disturbing when I had my first acquaintance with L'egere White Multi BB Cream. Like most BB Creams in the market, it comes in only one shade. And, this shade looks way too dark for my skin tone... the orange undertones... =.=

I was literally amazed when I start spreading the Multi White on my skin. The dark orangey shade instantly transforms into a medium beige shade with pink undertones. It's close to my skin color albeit a tad lighter. Leaves a slight sheen on the skin.

It has a light creamy consistency which feels a lil' sticky initially. I find it easy to blend, using fingers (as usual).

L'egere Water Drop Shiny Pearl has a light liquidy texture. It feels more lightweight as compared to Multi White. The shade is beige with slight grey undertones, a lil' darker than my skin tone.

I like how it goes on very smoothly on the skin, with a hint of cooling sensation upon application. Like Kameria Water Drop Super Moisturethere are water droplets formed when spreaded on the skin. That leaves a moisturized feel on my skin. When blended out, the 3D pearl shining particles illuminates the skin well without looking too shimmery. It reminds me of Skin79 Crystal Pearl BB Cream, with slightly better coverage. Like Skin79 Crystal Pearl BB Cream, it is excellent as a highlighter to complement my regular makeup.

They have the same faint citrusy scent, I like!

Both provide sheer to medium coverage, with White Multi being slightly better. They do not conceal imperfections like dark circles completely, hence the need for a separate concealer. Overall, they do help even out my skin tone pretty well -- giving a semi dewy finish. And, I like that they feel lightweight on the skin especially Water Drop Shiny Pearl.

In terms of oil-control, I would say Water Drop Shiny Pearl does a better job. For Multi White, I do see the need of blotting with tissue after just 2 hours or so. Nevertheless, a good mattifying powder will do the job of keeping the oilies at bay -- think Maybelline Dream Matte Powder. Ahh... I can never stop raving about this awesome possum HG product!

All in all, I enjoy using these L'egere BB Creams especially on days when I don't feel like piling on too much makeup. They are like my second skin, but definitely much-much better.

Okay, that's all. Hope the reviews help (:

Maybelline Product Launch Event

07Mar12

In March & April, Maybelline will be having a series of new product launches. Not long ago, Maybelline organized a massive blogger/fan event for a first-hand experience on these new products.

The event was held at Covelli Italian Bistro & Wine Bar.

Besides introducing Maybelline's new products, there was a fashion runway show by Love, Bonito. It's a lil' different from usual... If you are observant enough, you will see the "glitch".

The purpose of the "makeup malfunction" (only one side with eye makeup), is to show how eye makeup can make one look visually attractive. The difference is apparent, not to the extent of drastic -- since the models are naturally pretty.

Maybelline UV B.B White

The new Maybelline UV B.B White has a high UV protection of SPF50 PA+++, perfect for those who are often outdoors or hanging by the beach.

The texture is similar to that of Maybelline B.B Cream -- not too thick. UV B.B White 02 Natural has yellow undertones, which looks kinda dark for my skintone. Hmm... I shall try it soon and let y'all know how the UV B.B White fares.

Comes in 01 Light and 02 Natural. Fyi, this is already out in stores.

Maybelline Masterliner White

Masterliner White is Maybelline's 1st white mechanical pencil, to achieve the "big eye dolly look". Formulated with nylon and waxes that are rich in pigments, this allows for the pencil to be soft and smooth -- giving an intense, creamy glide on the waterline. The pencil is also smudge-proof & waterproof.

It swatches nicely without tugging the skin. The white is soft and matte, which I really like. In fact, I've been wanting to get a good white eyeliner. This came at the right time.

How to use?

Use a cotton bud to remove excess tears from your waterline, softly glide a first layer upon the waterline. Glide on a second layer to bring out a clearer visibly bigger eye!” - Larry Yeo, local renowned makeup artist

Maybelline Volum’ Express Magnum Ultra Comb Waterproof Mascara

Fresh from Maybelline New York, the all new Volum’ Express Magnum Ultra Comb Waterproof Mascara delivers all the benefits that you have always wanted in one neat little package.

Dynamic Duo: Collagen-rich Formula Delivered by New Ultra Comb

The Ultra Comb applicator is exquisitely curved to fit well to Asian eyelids. Foolproof and easy to use, the wand grabs each lash from root to tip and combs each strand out for smooth volume from any angle without touching the eyelid. Plus, its unique collagen-filled fluid volumizes each lash by 7x the volume!

Its unique shape also deposits just the right amount of product in one coat. Clumps are a thing of the past as the Volum’ Express Magnum Ultra Comb Waterproof Mascara builds volume without unwanted bulk. Lifted right from the root, lashes are perfectly separated, with each strand sleek and tapered to a sharp tip. But volume doesn’t mean added weight! Volum’ Express Magnum Ultra Comb Waterproof Mascara keeps your lashes feeling soft, supple and conditioned all day long.

Volum’ Express Magnum Ultra Comb Waterproof Mascara wears all day, and doesn’t flake or wear off when you rub your eyes.

The tropical weather is no challenge as the hardy formula resists sweat, tears, humidity and sebum. The waterproof mascara is easily removed with makeup remover and is tested suitable for sensitive eyes and contact lens wearers.

What intrigues me most is the quirky-looking comb -- SO CUTE! I'm sure it works as well as it looks (:

Maybelline Jelly Glow Blush

The revolutionary new Maybelline Jelly Glow Blush has a new jelly texture that is as smooth as cream, and light as powder.

The exclusive bouncy cream formula with a unique solid jelly texture instantly blends in with your cheeks for a light splash of color. It is also lasting and durable; maintain the freshest glow on your face for up to 6 hours.

I really like the bouncy sponge texture and of coz how cute the Jelly Glow Blush looks!

As shown, it is not that pigmented. Well, I don't need my blushers to be pigmented anyway. I guess it'll be easy to blend on the cheeks, for that perfect cutesy glow.

Comes in 4 shades (02 Fresh Pink, 04 Sweet Peach, 05 Pure Orange, ???).

Our very own local artist – Wanton Doodle, with his sketch of Maybelline's products.

Brunch was served. Ahh... I regretted not choosing the tuna pasta as my main course... =.=

Will do a separate post on my LOTD... I really like my eye makeup for that day! :p

Me, Valerie, Yvonne...

... plus Xinyi :D

Group pic! Plus Joyce, Yi Jing and Tiphanie...

Available in stores from March 2012 onwards:-

  • UV B.B White$17.90

Available in stores from April 2012 onwards:-

  • Volum’ Express Magnum Ultra Comb Waterproof Mascara - $19.90
  • Jelly Glow Blush $15.90
  • Masterliner White $11.90

***All product info and unmarked images are extracted from press release.***

Stay tuned for my reviews (:

Thanks Kelvin (Touch Communications) for the invite! And, thanks Maybelline Singapore for the well-organized event!
