Fairy Drops Volume Burst Mascara Waterproof

22Mar12

Finally, my review on Fairy Drops Volume Burst Waterproof Mascara. Well, I meant to blog about this much earlier.

Hmm... better late than never, right? (haha! me and my excuses...) :P I bought mine via eBay before it was made available in Watsons. Oh... and I've got the Platinum version which I've yet to use... Oops!

Fairy Drops Volume Burst Mascara Waterproof contains Volume Up Powder, Wax and Fiber to make “Volume Burst” in one coat. Strong against humidity, it makes a strong curl. As it is water-proof, sweat-proof and tear-proof, it is good for marine sports. You need not worry about mess and smudge. ***extracted from sasa.com***

I love the whimsical design as well as the pretty colors put together. It does look cute and pretty, amidst my mascara stash.

US and Japan patented Fairy Drops Brush (Straight) catches even tiny lashes from their roots. Lashes are bitten between the balls and sharp triangular bunches are made. It pushes up making beautiful curls without clump.

How to use?

  • Comb eyelashes with eyelash brush. Curl up eyelashes with lash curler.
  • Take out the mascara brush. Let the eyelashes be bitten between the balls at the roots and brush upward for a curl.
  • Clean up brush or container and keep tightly closed after use.

***extracted from sasa.com***

The iconic Fairy Drops Mascara brush -- looks like 3 balls of brushes stuck together (lol). So unique!

Curling my lashes prior mascara application is a must. I apply two coats, which is just nice (in my opinion). The formula is not too wet, yet not too dry. I was surprised that my lashes still feel pretty soft to touch as waterproof mascaras tend to make lashes stiff.

The 3 balls really help in catching the tiniest of lash. I hardly apply mascara to my barely-there bottom lashes, since most mascaras don't do much in lengthening and defining 'em. This does -- thanks to the tiny mascara fibers and its vivid black intensity!

I like how it defines, separates, lengthens my lashes. My lashes doesn't feel clumpy at all.

Most importantly, it holds curls extremely well. In fact, all day long! I've used it numerous times, and it never once smudge or flake on me. The waterproof formula is no joke. Thankfully, it is easily removed with an oil-based makeup remover.

My only gripe is that it doesn't add enough volume for my liking. Nevertheless, it is a new addition to my HG mascara list.

My lashes can be distinctively seen from afar, without using fake lashes. How not to love this mascara?!

What's your favorite/holy grail mascara?

K-Palette Real Lasting Volume Mascara 01 Jet Black

19Dec11

I've two of this. One was part of my goodie bag via an event, the other was bought prior the event.

A film type waterproof mascara that adheres well to each lash to create dramatic lashes with outstanding volume.

Polymer ingredients make it resistant to water, sweat, oil to prevent ‘panda eyes’ and it is clump-free. You can now have beautiful, soft and impactful lashes that lasts all day. Use it with K-Palette 1 Day Keep Base to keep curls. Can be easily removed with lukewarm water.

[extracted from Beauty Carousel]

A simple black tube with silver wordings.

The brush has tiny soft bristles which do not cause any discomfort to the sensitive eye area.

This mascara has hits AND misses. It reminds me of Dejavu Mascara (lengthening) which contains black fibres that layer on to create a false lash effect. The formulation is on the wet side. I like how intensely black it is, which adds a nice definition to my barely-there lashes.

It claims to be waterproof/water-resistant. I strongly beg to differ. When the mascara-ed lashes come into contact with water, I experience fallouts and smudges.

If you've watery eyes, THAT'S IT. You get panda eyes.

When coated twice (top of image above), it is clump-free. It only starts to clump from the 3rd coat (bottom of image above) onwards. The mascara-ed lashes feel in-between soft and stiff. The lashes are evenly coated with mascara, from the roots to the tips. Hmm... the inner corners are kinda hard-to-reach though, which explains the somewhat messy application. In my opinion, it does a better job in lengthening than volumizing (thanks to the black fibres).

To remove, just use warm water will do.

All in all, I find that a good mascara should be able to hold curls well. Sad to say, it doesn't. Perhaps, it will work better if used with K-Palette 1 Day Keep Base? I shall try and see how it fares.

Retails for SGD$25.90 at Beauty Carousel, Watsons and Sasa.

Review: Kiss Me Heroine Make Impact Frame & Curl Mascara 01

05Nov11

Kiss Me Heroine Make Long & Curl Mascara is one of my HG mascaras. The Volume & Curl one was okay, but not HG material. I gotta know about this "new" Kiss Me Heroine Make Impact Frame & Curl Mascara 01 from Jones (when she was in HK months ago). She CP-ed for me since it wasn't available in S'pore back then. Thanks once again :D

Now, it is easily available at Watsons for SGD$26.90 (definitely cost lesser in HK).

I like the black/gold packaging as compared to the usual maroon. A more classy look IMO.

The brush is one-of-a-kind; totally different from the mascaras I've used so far. Interesting :D

One side is ribbed, with short brush bristles on the other side.

HOW TO USE?

I use the ribbed side to volumize my lashes, then the short brush bristles to comb the mascara. The mascara itself is super black-black, more intense than its predecessors. Formula-wise, it's rather wet. Do be careful when using the ribbed side as it does deposit a lil' too much mascara on the lashes. The short brush bristles are really good in separating and defining the lashes. I just need to use one coat of mascara and carefully work on my lashes layer by layer. Patience is virtue.

It was a messy affair at 1st attempt. Well, practice makes perfect. After I've got the hang of it, it was a different story altogether. It holds curls very well, all day long. FYI, I've the habit of using eyelash curler to curl my lashes prior mascara application.

Creates a false-lash effect; lengthens and volumizes lashes effectively. Smudge-free. Doesn't flake. Easily removed using an oil-based makeup remover.

Down-side? Tends to clump a little, but nothing serious. A pretty good mascara, I would say. BUT.. I still prefer my HG Kiss Me Heroine Make Long & Curl Mascara :x

The Narcissistic Me; LOTD: No More Rules

19Apr11

This post, I'm going to show you the products I used for the LOTD (I did at the KATE Bloggers' Event) and my thoughts (on some of the products). Well, I was dying to try out some of the products. Nah, I'm not new to KATE cosmetics. In fact, I've used quite a number of their products. Needless to say, I fell in love with a few products while doing my LOTD. They're on my wishlist for now teehee

  • KATE Lasting High Coverage Liquid Foundation OC-B
  • KATE Covering Concealer for Under Eyes
  • KATE Designing Eyebrow N EX-4
  • KATE Eyebrow Color LB-1
  • KATE Cheek Color S PK-1
  • KATE Quick Eyeliner BK-1
  • KATE Dual Blend Eyeshadow BK-1
  • KATE Liquid Rouge PK-6
  • KATE Mascara Base
  • KATE Volume Mascara

Products on my wishlist:

1) KATE Lasting High Coverage Liquid Foundation OC-B

I love the lightweight texture of this liquid foundation, which doesn't make my face look cakey. It provides medium coverage for my face, concealing redness and evens out my skintone. For me, I didn't use any powder to set the foundation as it dries down to a semi-matte finish after application. My face feels really smooth to touch. I must say the oil control part is pretty awesome. My face started to get lil' shiny after 4 hours or so.

2) KATE Dual Blend Eyeshadow GN-1

I've been wanting to try this but never got around to. Best part, it's included as part of the event's goodie bag! Thanks KATE! And Vivian as well, coz she kindly swapped colors with me (:

Will be posting a LOTD soon!

3) KATE Mascara Base

I think I do like this mascara base but prolly not as much as Majolica Majorca's Lash Bone White Fiber. I would say the formula is more wet but still, it does a pretty good job of creating length and volume for my lashes. It also holds the curls well. And I'm happy that it's included in the goodie bag too!

4) KATE Volume Mascara

This mascara when paired with the mascara base gives heavenly results! My lashes became super duper dolly (think jet black, long & volumized)! Easy to remove as well.

The other products given in the goodie bag were KATE Super Sharp Liner BK-1 and KATE Long Gel Mascara :D

KATE Mascara Base

The semi-translucent white fibers adhere to my lashes quite easily and I didn't experience any fall-outs. Firstly, I curled my lashes with my own lash curler. After which, I applied on each eye, and waited for awhile before applying the Volume Mascara.

KATE Volume Mascara

It gives a jet black finish, which I love love love! The brush is slightly curved, with really short bristles at the inner part. I just need to brush using the wide side and wiggle up my lashes to give the curl effect. The longer bristles at the sides create volume and definition to my lashes. I would say if not applied right, the lashes will tend to clump up. The brush is relatively big and if not careful enough, the mascara might just ruin the eye makeup. No smudging. And, 1 coat is enough to create pretty lashes. 2 coats for dolly effect.

KATE Quick Eyeliner BK-1

I reached out of this instead of the Super Sharp one as I prefer to draw thicker lines for my eyes. The tip of the KATE Quick Eyeliner is firm, which doesn't bend when used. So even if you want to draw precise lines, it can do the job as well. Very easy to draw and there's minimal room for mistakes seriously! The color is not as intense as I would like but still, it looks fine on me. I go on 2 layers for my eyes. The swatch is just 1 stroke btw. What I love most is really the ease of use :D

I don't photoshop my photos to look perfect. You can still see the flaws on my face >.<

When the flashlight gets stronger, there's lesser imperfections :x teehee

And I love my LOTD so much, that I started camwhore non-stop. Fret not, I collate them in 6-s.

Flooded with my faces...... FACE-SPAM Muahahaha xD

Thanks for reading! And "bearing" with my narcissism :x xoxo

LOTD: Code Red

28Mar11

And, the focus of this LOTD is my pimp-ed lashes of coz (as shown in the super close-up photo).

Notice the red bits? Well, the red was not super obvious kind coz I layered red mascara over Dolly Wink Volume Mascara.

I'm pretty sure that the red will be super obvious over Majolica Majorca Lash Bone White Fiber.

You must be wondering what red mascara I'm talking about, yes? I didn't get it when it was launched last year. I only got it this year and I just knew I had to get my hands on it. Btw it's limited edition, maybe that explains why?

Ta Dah!~ Majolica Majorca Lash Gorgeous Wing Neo Red Mascara RD600 (Limited Edition).

A lil' review for now:

Red is definitely a unique color and not as widely-used as black or brown of coz. It is not easy to find a red mascara IMO. Correct me if I'm wrong. I was bent on getting this MJ mascara and the only place which still had stock was NAC Watsons. I bought it at full price, no discount whatsoever coz it's limited edition. There was about 2 or 3 left (can't remember) after I got mine. I love how the red makes my eyes 'POP'; more 'awake' somehow. My lashes do look kinda spidery due to the mascara fibers. BUT that doesn't really bother me much, since no one will stand THAT close enough to see that. The mascara fibers did add some length to my lashes and I ain't complaining :p Easy to remove as well, with cleansing oil of coz! I'll layer this on top of MJ Lash Bone White Fiber next time to see the RED effect. ♥x♥

Ignore my oily face; no thanks to the time-of-the-month.

Photos speak a thousand words. Pretty self-explanatory? Till then.

Products used:

  • Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum Gel Foundation 51 Light Vanilla

♥ Dolly Wink: Swatches, Haul, Review & ......?

18Mar11

I did a lil' introduction about Dolly Wink couple of days ago.

Here's Tsubasa Masuwaka, looking incredibly dolly and sweet-looking.

Here's a lil' booklet about Dolly Wink, found at Watsons. And, I'm gonna share with you its contents......

Long Mascara for Pretty Doll Style. Not available in S'pore though.

The pages can be removed, see the dotted lines at the side of the page? Reminds me of postcards. ^^

Volume Mascara for Mannish Preppy Style.

Dolly Wink Eye Shadow No.01 Brown for Sweet Dolly Look.

Dolly Wink Eye Shadow No.02 Gray Pink for Monotone Mode Look.

Dolly Wink Eye Shadow No.03 Blue Orange for Country Retro Look.

Dolly Wink Eye Shadow No.04 Green Pink for Colorful Pop Look.

Dolly Wink Cream Eye Shadow No.01 Doll for Nudy Glamorous Look.

Dolly Wink Cream Eye Shadow No.02 Crystal for Rainbow Crystal Look.

Which look do you prefer? I  ALL of 'em!

Dolly Wink Eye Shadows' swatches! Well-pigmented is!

So, what did I haul?

Can you guess what is it?

How can I possibly miss out this Volume Mascara! :p The polka dottie packaging is so kawaii, with the wonderful color combination of purple & turquoise! Retails for $29.90.

And it claims that one can get Defined, Luscious Dolly Lashes using this Volume Mascara. REALLY?

I bought this mascara as it has this unique tapered brush shape designed for lower lashes, defining & volumizing 'em for a pretty dolly eye look! Non-clumping. And, I ♥ the smaller pointy tip at the end of brush coz it allows me to brush on mascara on lower lashes so easily. The pointy tip can also reach hard-to-reach lashes at the inner eye area without ruining my eye makeupWaterproof; so no smudging or unsightly fall-outs. My lashes were kept curled all day long. More than 12 hours in fact. Yes, I did curl my lashes beforehand. The mascara is easy to remove, using my favorite ZA cleansing oil. No lash loss during the process of cleansing.

My BARE-LY there lashes, especially the bottom ones.

2 coats of mascara for the top lashes is more than enough! I only brush on 1 coat for the lower lashes. (:

NO FAKE LASHES NEEDED. A MASCARA REVIEW WITH FAKE LASHES IS SIMPLY BULLSHIT, DON'T YA AGREE? WHO'LL BELIEVE IN THE EFFICACY OF THE MASCARA FOR GOODNESS SAKE? WELL, I'VE COME ACROSS SUCH "REVIEW(S)". SIMPLY SPEECHLESS. YUCKS!

Here's my simple eye makeup look. Will blog about this LOTD soon, and my lil' Melliesh teaser haul below. Umm.. I've been a good girl so far? :x

Did you get anything from Dolly Wink so far? If YES, what did you get? If NO, are you convinced to get the mascara after reading my review? (:
