Snippets of My Life -- No.2

17May12

Just celebrated my bro's birthday 2 days ago, at Itacho Sushi. Once again, "Happy 25th!" :D

My choice, a bad one. Overall, Itacho Sushi food standard was really bad. The 40-cents soya sauce salmon sushi (limited to 4pcs per person) was the saving grace of this overpriced meal. Sushi Tei will be a better choice, me thinks.

Hello Kitty Diamond Glosses ($12.90 each) are available at Watsons now! I'll be featuring these 3 flavors in a separate post.

Comes in 7 flavors!

Received a pretty red rose, together with an invitation to Heroine Make event. So innovative right?

$2 each! This is the combined haul of me, Jones, Chantana and my sis...

Lucido-L Hair Make Supplement Treatment Oil (Straight) is one of my favorite hair care products. I use it on towel-dried hair and it makes my hair so soft and smooth! Highly recommended to all

I've used Murad Skin Perfecting Primer (Blemish and Shine Control) for several times. My makeup lasts longer than usual. I'm liking it so far. Will be reviewing this in a separate post (:

My LOTDs...

I feel very happy when my blog gets featured :D

Random instagram pics of my accessories...

My 1st pair of Crocs, worn for the 1st time...

Thanks Sasa.com for this beautiful charm bracelet

PS: I won this in their FB giveaway (:

Cute piglet keychain, a gift from 5 years ago...

My sis bought Hello Kitty chocolates from Taiwan! Surprisingly, they tasted pretty good. I had KFC Double Down before I watched Avengers. It was sinfully tasty!

Btw, Avengers is a must-watch! Hulk is incredibly funny (lol)! I'm loving all the characters, esp. Captain America

Random F&B pics...

The Draw Something craze has died down. I'm still playing my all-time favorite Words with Friends AND Scramble with Friends though.

Say hello to Lee Joon, my latest eye-candy!

So cute... handsome... >.<~~

Revlon ColorStay™ Pressed Powder SoftFlex™ in 820 Light

06May12

I've been looking for a pressed powder similar to that of my HG Maybelline Dream Matte. Within my existing stash, I managed to dug out Revlon ColorStay™ Pressed Powder SoftFlex™ in 820 Light. I think I got it at $14.90 (promotional price) at Watsons sometime back.

What it does

Glides on weightlessly to minimize shine for a fresh, naturally flawless look that won't fade off.

How it works

  • Exclusive ColorStay™ formula with micro-milled powder creates an ultra-fine finish that wears for 16 hours over makeup.
  • SoftFlex™ technology provides a lightweight, comfortable feel all day.

I like that it comes in this sleek and chic black powder compact case, with an embedded full mirror. The powder puff comes in handy, which is so much better than Maybelline's.

Note: It now comes in a new bulkier compact, with a half-mirror. Seems like most dislike this new design :X

ingredient list

This shade 820 Light, matches my skin tone (NC/NW20) pretty well.

As you can see, the powder is silky (very finely milled), which doesn't have much coverage. The barely-there coverage is fine with me, since I don't use it alone -- I use it to set liquid foundation/BB cream.

I like that it doesn't clog my pores and keeps my T-zone mattified for almost 8 hours! Pretty impressed though it's not the stated 16 hours. It's definitely on par with Maybelline Dream Matte Powder, which makes it my new HG!

The powder is applied lightly over my recently bought DHC Platinum White Lasting White Liquid Foundation SPF30 PA++ 01. My skin doesn't look powdery or cakey at all. Looks naturally flawless, in my eyes :P

LOTD: Pink Berry

01May12

This is my LOTD for the recent RoC event. Hmm... I think I used alot of products for this look (lol). The photo below, shows most but not all products used.

List of products used for this LOTD:

Not pictured:

  • Revlon Colorstay Foundation 200 Nude >> i find it a lil' too thick for my liking...
  • Bourjois Intense Extrait Eyeshadow 03 Sand Rose >> glitter-bomb
  • MAC Paints in Graphito

*Note: Products highlighted are provided by beauty companies.

I love how Urban Decay Lip Junkie Lipgloss in Perversion gives my lips a pretty berry tone. A little goes a long way. Oh, I'm lovin' the mint flavor too

I wanted my eye makeup to last longer than usual, hence using Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion (Original). I applied it on my lids and on my lower lashline.

I applied Giorgio Armani Eyes To Kill Intense Eyeshadow in 7 Sweet Fire all over the lids, and Stila Shimmer Eyeshadow in Mystic over it (⅔ of lids). To highlight the brow bones, I used my all-time-fave Stila Eyeshadow in Kitten. I dusted a lil' Bourjois Intense Extrait Eyeshadow 03 Sand Rose to make the eyes 'pop'.

To avoid having 'sore-looking' eyes, I applied a thick 'liner' of MAC Paints in Graphito. Next, I drew a super thin line using my HG K-Palette Real Lasting Eyeliner 24h Waterproof (Dark Brown), on the upper lashline (as close as possible!). The line must be extended at the end, to make the eyes look wider. For the lower lashline, I used my HG Stage Eye Liner 02 Broadway Brown (a super underrated eyeliner).

Lastly, I curled my lashes and applied 2 coats of Maybelline Volum’ Express Magnum Ultra Comb Waterproof Mascara.

I think the Revlon Colorstay Foundation 200 Nude is a lil' thick... I don't really like the idea of having a full-coverage face. That being said, I agree that it looks good in photographs... kinda too much in real life :S

And, credits to Too Faced Primed & Poreless Skin Smoothing Face Primer, for creating the illusion of smooth-looking skin! Heh. Lovin' the beautiful glow Sleek Blush in Rose Gold imparted on my cheeks

That's all. Happy Labor Day! (:

My New Hair Color... PINK-a-boo!

13Apr12

I haven't been doing much to my hair this year, as compared to last year. The last time I had my hair professionally colored was like 10 months ago... last year June!

2 days ago, I went for a last minute hair workshop at the new Goldwell (Kao) office. I was late... b'coz I mistook UE Square for United Square... Zzzzzz... blur me! The former is at Clemenceau Ave, whereas the latter is at Novena area.

The theme was "sweet" hair colors. What came to my mind immediately was... Japanese kawaii girls' soft and sweet kind of hair color... those we mostly see in Vivi, Popteens... I was more than happy when they actually mean "sweet" hair colors, which are inspired by confectionery... think macaroons in candy colors

Getting the mid-section of my hair bleached...

Pinkify-ing my hair...

The session took about 5 ½ hours. I wanted pink and purple, something like Xiaxue's... but not the whole head of coz (I can't carry off the look...)! Due to time constraint, the hair stylist can only do warm tones on my hair. Hence, no candy hues for me >.<" unless my hair color is as light as Jone's...

Regardless, he did a fantastic job! Thanks Zac! :D

I tweeted the above pics, which didn't tell much about my new awesome chio (pretty) hair. heh.

Thanks ah mei for helping me take pics :D

My hair crown is supposed to be the darkest (dark ruby red), gradually lighter at the hair ends. The pinks are "hidden" beneath the darker hair strands.

I love the neon pinks! :P

My new chio hair color

Pink, you don't fade so fast okie? >.<"

My LOTD, using:-

  • Lancôme Hypnôse Doll Eyes Mascara
  • K-Palette Real Lasting Eyeliner 24h Waterproof (Dark Brown)
  • Murad Skin Perfecting Primer (Blemish and Shine Control)
  • Shu Uemura White Recovery Ex Whitening Powder Foundation 575
  • K-Palette Real Lasting Eyebrow Liner 24H (Natural Brown)
  • Stage Eye Liner 02 Broadway Brown
  • KATE Eyebrow Color LB-1
  • MAC Sheertone Blush (Instant Chic)
  • Pop Beauty Cheeky Cake (Beach Beauty)
  • Mavala Lip Gloss 28 Bubble Gum

My Sasatinnie Celebratory Look

11Apr12

from March 29 to April 30, Sasa is celebrating her 34th Anniversary. And, I've joined the "Sasatinnie Celebratory Look" contest organized for bloggers. You can vote for me HERE (:

To create my "Sasatinnie Celebratory Look", Sasa sent me the following products:-

  • Sasatinnie Limited Edition Fall in Love Makeup Palette 01 Vivid Purple Collection
  • Sasatinnie Sugary Heart Lipgloss Palette 02 Pinky Red Collection
  • Sasatinnie Sparky Liquid Eyeliner 03 Regal Blue

I totally adore the cute packaging, which some might find kiddy or whatever. Well... I'm just a kid at heart :P My heart was literally fluttering when I received 'em. heh.

Sasatinnie Limited Edition Fall in Love Makeup Palette

01 Vivid Purple Collection

Retails for $29.90.

The blush is decently pigmented and has a satin finish. For the look, I apply the mix of rosy pink and pink, then the highlighter color. Alternatively, you can swirl the trio for a lovely subdued candy pink.

I find the eyeshadows to be rather well-pigmented, which hold up well even without the use of primer. The lighter shimmery shades feel kinda gritty, while the darker shades apply very smoothly.

I like the bubblegum pink lip color, which does show up on the lips -- glossy with a hint of color.

Sasatinnie Sugary Heart Lipgloss Palette

02 Pinky Red Collection

Retails for $12.90.

This has gotta to be the prettiest among all And, the color combination is so sugary sweet!

The lip color I chose for my look!

I don't really fancy lip palettes but this is clearly an exception :P

Lipglosses in pan form, with a heart in the middle. You can use the colors alone, or mix 'em up. Like most lipglosses, they are not that pigmented, which add a bit of color and sheen to the lips.

Sasatinnie Sparky Liquid Eyeliner

03 Regal Blue

Retails for $11.90.

A beautiful shade of blue, which contains sparkly silver glitters.

The close-up finished eye makeup look.

Using Sasatinnie Limited Edition Fall in Love Makeup Palette 01 Vivid Purple Collection, I apply the shimmery pale gold shade as the base, then the pink-lavender shade all over the lids. Next, I define the outer-V using the plum and dark purple shades. I apply the same shades to the outer 1/3 of lower lashline.

Using K-Palette 24H Real Lasting Eyepencil, I tightline my upper lashline. Then I finish off the look with Sasatinnie Sparky Liquid Eyeliner 03 Regal Blue.

Remember to coat the lashes with waterproof mascara OR apply fake lashes.

My "Sasatinnie Celebratory Look"

Vote for me HERE if you like my look? TIA! (:

Revisiting Urban Decay Sustainable Shadow Box [Swatches & LOTDs]

02Apr12

I realized I haven't been playing with my makeup palettes though I'd bought so many... *facepalm*

Recently, I revisited Urban Decay Sustainable Shadow Box. I was using it consistently for these few weeks, creating different looks with this versatile palette alone.

Hmm... I think I need to must show some love to my other palettes soon!

I've been having this for one year plus I think... My sis has the same palette :D

The ten shades:-

  • YDK
  • Flipside
  • Grifter
  • Uzi
  • Twice Baked
  • Midnight Cowboy Rides Again
  • Flash
  • Oil Slick
  • Kiddie Pool
  • Half Baked

Swatch-time...

These eyeshadows are swatched beautifully without UDPP.

They are a shimmery and glittery lot, especially Uzi and Midnight Cowboy Rides Again.

Here are the various LOTDs I'd created...

***without UDPP***

This is a recycled pic from my review on Skin79 Vital Orange BB Cream. I used the cream-colored base from Integrate Rainbow Grade Eyes BR701 as the base color. Then, I applied Flash on the eyelid, over K-Palette 24H Real Lasting Eyepencil. To make the eyes look even, I usually draw a thicker liner for my monolidded right eye. Curling the lashes and applying mascara is a must, to make the eyes look lifted, hence more even.

I wish my right eye becomes doublelidded soon! My left eye used to be monolidded... >.<

My LOTD for the review on CandyDoll. On my nails -- Show Time by Mavala.

***with UDPP***

For this look, I used Grifter as the base color and Flash on the eyelid. I applied Milani Liquif'Eye Milani Liquif'Eye Metallic Eye Liner Pencil (Black) thickly for both eyes, slightly winged. That's my new HG black eyeliner, by the way. Better than MUFE and UD, in my opinion. The black is super duper intense and glides on oh-so-smoothly. Awesome stuff, if you don't already know. I saw this at John Little for $19.90, which is a total rip-off! I suggest you get it online for less than $10?

***without UDPP***

Hmm... cream-colored base from Integrate Rainbow Grade Eyes BR701 as the base color (again). Then I applied YDK on the eyelid, Twice Baked as the liner color. For the bottom lashline, I added a pop of color -- Flipside.

To define the eyes, I tightlined using K-Palette 24H Real Lasting Eyepencil.

My pretty in nude lips, using the new Mavala Lip Gloss 27 Litchi.

My LOTD for the Tocco Tenero post.

***without UDPP***

Twice Baked on the eyelid and Midnight Cowboy Rides Again on the eye contour area. I like this quick and easy look, took me less than 5 mins.

Okay, here comes the favorite look of the lot!

For this look, I used 6 colors - FlipsideGrifter, UziFlash, Oil Slick & Kiddie Pool.

Fyi, this was my LOTD for the Maybelline event.

***without UDPP***

  • Flipside on the outer eyelid
  • Grifter on the eye contour area
  • Uzi on the inner corner of eyes and inner bottom lashline
  • Flash on the outer bottom lashline
  • Oil Slick as the liner for the bottom lashline, winged out
  • Kiddie Pool on the inner eyelid

A special mention on the lovely mascara combination I used -- Majolica Majorca Lash Bone Black FiberFairy Drops Volume Burst Waterproof Mascara. Both holy grail of mine. I believe the photos are justifiable enough?

Okay, that's all. Thanks for looking!

Happy Monday (:

A Quickie Post

25Mar12

Whenever I'm out, I make it a point to visit Watsons. A habit, I guess. Anyway, I was browsing as usual and discovered this "1-week special" promotion for Majolica Majorca Lash King Mascara.

After doing the girly math, it's a good 35% discount! $16.80 for a relatively new (and limited edition) Majolica Majorca Mascara is a pretty good deal. Do act fast. The promotion is only until this coming wed, 28 Mar.

MJ fans, go-go-go!

As mentioned in my latest LOTD post, I was trying to haul "necessarily". Here I am, with a totally unnecessary haul. Do I need a new mascara? A big fat 'NO'. I bought this set of ZA Impact Lash Base and Mascara for only $18.50 (there's additional 7% discount till end March I think)... that's why :x

Having had very good experience with ZA Cutie Curl Volume Mascara, I'm glad to say that this is as good! *happy*

As for the tweezers, I bought it for $4.90 at a random shop. Not exactly cheap since this is not some well-known brand. Hope that it works for me >.< *fingers crossed*

A Neutral LOTD [feat. Integrate Rainbow Grade Eyes BR701]

24Mar12

The 1st quarter of 2012 is ending in a week's time... Woah~ Time really flies!

So far, I've been good, trying to haul necessarily instead of excessively. I recently did some packing and found myself with "new" makeup and skincare to play with use. Needless to say, there is also a considerable amount of old ones that need to be discarded.

One of the "new" makeup I managed to find in my abandoned stash is Integrate Rainbow Grade Eyes BR701. It consists of a glitter shade (the slanted striped one), 3 powder shades in the shape of a heart (2/3 to be precise. heh.) and a cream-colored base.

[pictured left to right]:

white rainbow glitter powder, cream-colored base, shimmery champagne nude, shimmery dark taupe, shimmery brownish black.

All the shades are very pretty. I would say they're decently pigmented, considering typical Japanese brand eyeshadows are quite sheer. I love the cream-colored base, as it imparts a pretty glowy sheen sans shimmers.

The powder eyeshadows feel silky smooth, not cheap powdery kind. The shimmers they contain are very finely milled. They're really easy to work with and blend really beautifully.

As for the sparkly rainbow glitter shade, it feels smooth but not densely packed though. A good eye primer like Urban Decay or TFSI will help prevent fall-outs.

I like the color combination though it's clearly not that unique. I'm glad that they hold up well without the use of an eye primer -- no creasing or fading at the end of day.

For this look, I applied the base color then the powder eyeshadows using the easy "gradient" effect. To keep the look simple, I didn't use the rainbow glitter powder.

Face

  • BRTC Glossy BB Cream
  • Ettusais BB Mineral Powder

Eyes

*Note: Products highlighted are provided by beauty company for review purpose.

That's my end-of-the-day face... UPCLOSE! >.<

That's all. Thanks for looking!

Review: CandyDoll Lipstick, Lipgloss and Cheek Color

14Mar12

I talked about CandyDoll Base Makeup Series in the earlier post HERE. In this post, I'll be featuring their lip products (lipgloss and lipstick) as well as the cheek color.

  • Lipgloss (Macaroon Pink)
  • Lipstick (Ramune Pink)
  • Cheek Color (Peach Pink)

Retails at $25.90 each.

CandyDoll Cheek Color (Peach Pink)

A soft blushes of color that is natural and give you a perfect clarity. Long lasting throughout the day!

The cheek color swatch barely shows up on my hand, since my hand is darker than my face. This is a light wash of muted peachy pink, which is more suitable for those with fairer skin tones (NC/NW20 and below).

I apply this alone or over a more pigmented cheek color. Both ways work well for me, just that I need to be heavy-handed to get the color to show up on my cheeks.

Lipstick (Ramune Pink)

Gives you dewy cute pink lips.

PS: You may use with Candy Doll Macaroon Pink Lip Gloss, it gives you a totally different experience!

Lipgloss (Macaroon Pink)

Ramune Pink is a nudish pink-beige color. The lipstick has a creamy texture and is well-pigmented (to cover my original lip color). Doesn't dry my lips.

Macaroon Pink is a milky hot pink shade. The lipgloss is pigmented enough to be worn on its own. I like to layer over Ramune Pink though. The lipgloss does feel a lil' sticky, not as much as MAC's. Pretty moisturizing, in my opinion.

Hmm... As my lips are rather dry at the moment, the application is not really smooth sailing. Both lip products are unforgiving on my dry lips, accentuating the flaky bits and lip cracks. It's best to apply on well-hydrated lips.

Lipgloss (Macaroon Pink) and Candy Doll Cheek Color (Peach Pink)...

My favorite look -- Lipgloss (Macaroon Pink) layered over Lipstick (Ramune Pink) plus Cheek Color (Peach Pink)

That's all. Thanks for looking!

CandyDoll Base Makeup Series: Review/Thoughts + A Quick LOTD

13Mar12

In this post, I'll be sharing my review/thoughts on CandyDoll Base Makeup PLUS a quick LOTD.

    A lil' introduction...

Masuwaka Tsubasa is the top Popteens model in Japan, her popularity encouraged many pops fan and teenagers to follow her fashion style and makeup trend. CandyDoll first developed with the Cheek and Lip series followed by Lipstick and Mineral Powder lines. Ms Tsubasa creates all different kind of makeup techniques, styles, looks and trends by using the most basic CandyDoll Color Cosmetics.

Makeup Base SPF30

The moisturizing and light texture is our big favorite! Not only it minimizes pores appearance & covers imperfection of skin texture, it provides a good SPF30 against the UV rays, looks dewy and keeps the makeup long lasting for the day.

Liquid Foundation 01 / 02

Use this after the Makeup Base SPF30, the buildable coverage and lightweight liquid foundation delivers a natural flawless complexion.

Concealer 01

This powdery pigmented moisturizing concealer is formulated to hide all kind of skin imperfections and brighten up your eye area.  It fix closely and softly to your skin, giving you a smooth finishing.

Powder Foundation

The incredibly fine texture powder gives a good coverage without feeling too heavy on the skin. Keep your face matte and natural at all times without touchup!

Crystal Face Powder

Formulated with skin friendly mineral powder. This magical powder that is ideal for touch up as well. It covers pores without clogging them. It keeps your makeup fresh throughout the day. Suitable for all skin type. It adds glow and radiance to your skin, giving you a natural and flawless finishing!

CandyDoll Makeup Base and Liquid Foundation 02

  • Liquid Foundation 02 - beige with yellow undertones
  • Makeup Base - opalescent light pink with ultra fine micro-shimmers

I mix the Makeup Base with Liquid Foundation (1:2), to neutralize the color (less yellowish). Alternatively, you can apply the Makeup Base then Liquid Foundation.

(1) & (2): Makeup Base + Liquid Foundation (right side of face), bare skin on the left

(3) & (4): Makeup Base + Liquid Foundation (right side of face), Makeup Base on the left

Fyi, I'm sharing my thoughts based on a one-time trial experience (I was provided with 2 sample sachets each).

I like the mix of Makeup Base and Liquid Foundation, as compared to using only the latter. The shade 02 (Liquid Foundation) makes my skin look slightly yellowish. Mixing in the Makeup Base, helps to rectify the "problem". The Makeup Base alone, helps to smooth and luminate the skin by imparting a slight rosy glow. As for the Liquid Foundation, it applies smoothly and has a light coverage (buildable to a light medium coverage).

Together, they help achieve a radiant and naturally dewy even complexion.

CandyDoll Crystal Face Powder 01 - Mineral Powder

    Masuwaka Tsubasa is super dolly-looking!

The packaging is uber sweet! kawaii-neh~

Comes with a soft velvet powder puff.

The mineral powder is silky and finely milled. It contains very fine micro-shimmers, which makes the skin look naturally luminous without looking like a disco-ball.

The micro-shimmers are so fine, they are barely noticeable. As you can see from the image above, the powder goes on translucent and glowy. Great for setting foundation/BB cream without adding more color to it.

The finished look, with CandyDoll Crystal Face Powder 01. It does help to minimize the look of my pores. The lasting power is average, as I find myself blotting and touching up after about 3-4 hours later.

Other products used:-

  • CandyDoll Cheek Color (Peach Pink)
  • CandyDoll Lipgloss (Macaroon Pink)

I'll be reviewing them in a separate post.
